

Raymond L. Herget, 82, of Peoria, passed away at 4:20 pm on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at his home in Peoria.
He was born January 26, 1930 in Peoria, IL to Louis R. and Mildred J. (Sylvester) Herget. He married Joan Frazelle on March 26, 1950 at Howett Street Christian Church in Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Billy Herget and one sister, Norma Steipp.
Surviving are his wife Joan of Peoria, four children, Steven ( Lynn) Herget of Hendersonville, N.C., Linda (Ralph) Wilson of Congerville, IL, Karen (Steve) Frank of Dunlap and Michael ( Kay) Herget of South Point, OH. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Jeffrey (Julie) Gilles, Mark Gilles, James (Kelly) Herget, Chistopher (Marta) Herget, Amy (Mark) Kleinpeter, Scott (Tera Backlund) Frank, Amanda Herget, Jamie (Seth) Shelton and Jennifer (Megan Denton) Herget, eleven great-grandchildren, Shannon, Abbey, Jacob, Jack, Jimmy, T.J., Conner, Bryce, Nicholas, Billie and Wyatt, one brother, Richard M. (Phyllis) Herget of Bradford, MA.and one sister, Doris Whitlock of Dunlap.
Ray worked as a sheet metal worker for Standard Brands in Pekin for 17 years. In 1992 he retired from Dumont Co. after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Sheet Metals Workers Union Local 1 and a member of Forrest Hill United Methodist Church in Peoria. Ray was an accomplished woodworker who enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He was an avid cubs and bears fan and will be remembered for his smile.
A visitation will be on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 3 to 5 pm at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. A service will be on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11:30 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Forrest Hill United Methodist Church in Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Curt D. Keller will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
