

Born on Nov. 14, 1925, in Marshfield, Wis., Raymond was the son of Albert and Myrtle (Zielsdorf) Wenzel. He married Vivian Jacqueline Keeley on Sept. 18, 1965.
Survived are his wife; three daughters, Susan (Reginald) Lee, Dianna Wenzel and Cynthis Stang; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Harold Wenzel; and two sisters, Karleen Mahoney and Barbara Sletten.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Jeffrey Ray Wenzel.
Raymond was a World War II Army veteran. He served as a corporal in active combat in the 99th Division in Europe and was captured during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a prisoner of War in Stalag 13c in Hammelburg, Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Raymond received an honorable discharge in November of 1945 and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Raymond worked at MultiAd Services in Peoria for 34 years, the last 25 years as the art director. He retired in 1988.
On June 4, 2013, Raymond went on the Honor Flight from Peoria, Ill., to Washington, D.C.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and burial of cremains will be at Princeville Township Cemetery at a later date. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Army.
