Richard "Dick" I. Hartman

He was born Nov. 15, 1931 in Crete, IL to Fred and Bess (Mansmith) Hartman. He married Roberta “Bobbi” Parks on Aug. 29, 1959 in Homewood, IL. She survives along with one daughter, Sue (Mark) Brock of Punta Gorda, FL; one son, Rick (Kendra) Hartman of Washington, IL; five grandsons: Christopher Hartman of Chicago, Matthew Murphy of Farmington Hills, MI, Adam (Andrea) Reynolds of Bartonville, Jonathan Hartman of Chicago, Benjamin Hartman of Troy, IL and two step-granddaughters: Sydney Dean of Peoria and Ruby Dean of Washington. He is also survived by three great-grandsons: Tyce, Ryland, Brentlee, and one brother, Fred Hartman of Crete.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dick graduated from Bradley University with a B.S. in Business Administration. He earned his M.B.A. Degree and Doctorate in Business from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

He taught for forty years in the Foster College of Business at Bradley University. During that time Dr. Hartman served one year as Acting Dean of the College, three years as Director of the M.B.A. program, and fourteen years as the Chairman of the Business Management Department. He authored or co-authored twenty journal articles and books. He received the University Putnam award for excellence in teaching. Dick retired in 2001 as Professor Emeritus of Business Administration.

He loved attending his grand-children’s sporting activities and musical concerts. He was an avid Bradley and Indiana basketball and soccer fan. He also rooted for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

Dick was a fifty plus year member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria. He served his church in a number of different capacities.

Visitation will be Friday, August 13, 2021 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Richard Hartman Endowed Scholarship at Bradley University.
