He was born September 19, 1939 in Pekin to Gene and Margaret (Bruninga) Noren, he married Mary Ellen Creasy on June 19, 1960 in Peoria. She passed away October 31, 2018.
Richard is also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sons, Michael (Laura) Noren, James (Diane) Noren, and Jeffrey (Christopher Loubsky) Noren; two grandsons, Dalton (Savannah Chaffee) Noren and Bradley Noren; granddaughter, Trinda Noren; three great-granddaughters, Brylee, Makena, and Lizzy Noren; three great-grandsons, Charlie, Owen and Hunter Noren; step-granddaughter, Katie (Greg) Keyes; brother-in-law Ric (Peg) Creasy; two nieces, Robyn (Andrew) Johnson and Shannon (Ed) Harcourt; great-nephew, Connor Johnson.
Richard found great joy in various pursuits, and among them, his passion for Cheney's Battery Civil War reenactments and membership in the Good Sams Camping Club stood out. These activities brought him not only pleasure but also a sense of camaraderie with like-minded individuals who shared his love for history and outdoor adventures.
Throughout his life, Richard found enjoyment spending winters in McAllen, Texas.
Professionally, Richard dedicated an impressive 36 years of his life to the City of Peoria. Starting as a laborer, he steadily climbed the ranks, his journey within the city culminated in the role of superintendent.
Richard's compassionate nature shone through in his involvement with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
There are no services at this time, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
