My first memory of my Uncle Bob Pocklington is from sometime in 1949 or 1950. He was newly married and living in a house trailer in East Peoria. We met at his mother's house. To me she was Grandma Lucy. After her death, we seldom saw one another. He and his brother, Frank (my father, whom I never met) we're estranged. Still, I recall him teaching me how a smaller man could overcome a larger one with two fingers. Later in my life, I re-engaged with Uncle Bob, who had become a lapidarist. I followed in his footsteps as Doc Pock, lapidarist and pendant maker. He told stories I had never heard about his experience in World War Two. He wept as he told of the liberation of Dachau. May he rest forever in peace.
