Robert L. Wertz

Robert L. Wertz, 74, of West Peoria, passed away at 5:32 a.m., Monday, October 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born February 9, 1938 in Pekin, Illinois to Louis E. and Pansy (Cohenour) Wertz. He married Carolyn Criss on August 27, 1976 in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Catherine (Michael) Crane of Minneapolis, MN, Lisa Kesterson of Marshfield, MO, Christine (Michael) Kellman of New Berlin, WI, Cynthia Timmerwilke of Buffalo, MO, William Hannel of Jackson, WY; five brothers Eugene (Joyce) Wertz of Pekin, Wilford (Barbara) Wertz of Canton, Harold (Sue) Wertz of Pekin, Gerald (Unabelle) Wertz of Forest City, IL, Donald Wertz of Peoria; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Carroll and 1 grandson. Bob worked in the wire mill at Keystone Steel & Wire for 35 years retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bartonville and it's Leisure group. He was also a former member of Morton Whirl-A-Ways Square Dance Club and Keystone Square Dance Club. Bob was a self taught artist and musician. He enjoyed woodworking of all kinds including carving birds and instruments. After retirement he was involved in his family genealogy. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Pastor Michael Jones will officiate. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at Parkview Cemetery. A lunch will be served at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bartonville following the funeral services. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bartonville.
