Roger Essley Lawson

A native of Aledo, IL, Roger graduated from Aledo High School in 1971 and attended Wood Junior College and Mississippi State University, earning a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He enjoyed a fruitful career at Caterpillar in Peoria IL, where he developed many patents before retiring in 2015.

Roger embraced each day as an adventure and an opportunity to learn something new. He was most comfortable outdoors, whether running, biking, or creatively solving issues with track-type tractors in a jungle across the globe.

Roger Lawson was the son of the late David George and Alice Joan Lawson. He was also preceded in death by his sister Merridee Little Lawson.

Surviving are his wife: Janet Kent Lawson; children: David Kent Lawson (Christina) and Lindee Brie Lawson Calvert (Scott); grandchildren: Brett David Lawson and Alise Kiptynn Lawson; brother: Dan Lawson (Marybeth); and sister: Lindee Lawson Kent (Jeff).

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, Edwards.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roger's grandchildren college fund c/o the family.
