Ronald Callahan

Peoria – Ronald Leroy Callahan, 82, of Peoria, IL passed away peacefully Thursday, October 6, 2016 at his daughter’s rural Springfield home. He was born August 2, 1934 in Peoria, IL to Dean and Dorothea (Broughton) Callahan. Ron married Peg Carr on July 23, 1983 in Peoria, IL.

Surviving are: his wife Peg Callahan of Peoria, IL, their children; Drs. Susan (Michael) Detweiler, Bruce (Karen) Callahan, Julie (Bill) Heubi, Kelley (Brad) Tilly, and Connie DiCenso, fourteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and his two brothers; Patrick (Valarie) Callahan and Raymond (Sandy) Shearer. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jim.

Ron worked for LeTourneau and later retired from Dresser Industries in 1984. After his retirement he enjoyed selling cars and golfing with his family. His other interests included bowling, dancing, and his great love of animals, especially dogs. Ron was a member of the Elks Club for several years and attended Riverside Baptist Church.

Ron had a great smile, loved to laugh, and will be greatly missed. We love you forever.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to P.A.W.S. Online tributes may be left at www.Davison-Fulton.com
