

He is survived by his wife Betsy, son Richard(Cindy) Janssen, daughter Susan(Scott) Welty, grandchildren Jennifer(Cody) Volpe, Nicole(Easton) Beard, Joshua Janssen, as well as 1 great grandchild Wrenley Beard.
Ron graduated from Woodruff High School, he received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and masters of science and system degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
He served with pride and honor in the United States Air Force for the span of 28 years; ultimately retiring with the rank of Major. He served as squadron commander in Thailand and was with the Air Commando's in Vietnam.
Ron's second career was at Caterpillar where he worked as a quality engineer and auditor for 27 years.
He was also an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky and has instructed at three other state universities: Maryland, Georgia, and Illinois.
Ron is a Kentucky Colonel and never failed to watch a Kentucky basketball game. He was also a lifelong member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria Illinois.

Visitation will be held at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 North University Street, Peoria, IL 61604, US, on July 15, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location on July 15, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.
