Ronald “Ron” W. Riggen, 74, of Bartonville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at home. He was born on March 14, 1946 in Princeville, IL to father, Dale Riggen and mother, Lela (Riggen) Snyder. Ron was the 3rd of 8 children.

Ron retired from Caterpillar in 1993 after 30 years. After that he worked as a janitor at St. Vincent DePaul School where he loved to cook for the staff and playfully pick on all the students who he adored. Ron also worked for the Peoria Park District mowing the golf courses.

Ron loved to fish, play golf, and play cards with his family anytime he could. He also enjoyed going to garage sales so he could find the best bargains for his family, kids or grandkids.

Ron is lovingly remembered by his family for his quirky sense of humor (sometimes inappropriate), his hard of hearing (sometimes selective), but most importantly he showed his family his unconditional love. There was never a goodbye without a hug, kiss and “I Love You”. He taught his kids and grandkids that family comes first. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Dale Riggen; brother, Earl Riggen, wife, Marilyn Riggen; sister, Rita Austin; and grandson, Ryan Riggen.

He is survived by his mother, Lela Snyder; his four daughters, Vicki (Willie) Cassidy, Rhonda (Rob) Pfister, Cheri Riggen, Angela (Scott) Zehr, as well as three stepchildren. Also surviving are 12 grandkids; 15 great-grandkids; 9 step grandchildren; and five siblings, Rose Ginger, Roger (Chona) Riggen, Tena Larner, Lee (Sheree) Riggen and Mark (Tracey) Riggen.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be held an hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Inurnment will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.

Sweetheart Ron I am so thankful for everything, for your kindness to me, for the love that we've shared. The memories that we had here in Philippines cannot be forgotten till my last breath. I am so sorry Sweetheart that I wasn't able to get there even in the burial even though I want to but time and situations did not permit. I will miss you forever sweetheart. Regards to the Riggen family. I love you!

Love & care,
Grace
