Peoria - Rosemary Walk of Peoria peacefully passed away at Lutheran Hillside Village on Monday, January 18. Rosemary was born in Peoria, Illinois to Mary and Charles Auer on February 9, 1926, the first of five children. She married her husband Dean Walk on September 19, 1951. He proceeded her in death. Also proceeding her are brothers Charles N. and Robert E. of Peoria, and sister Shirley Elmore of Mason City. She is survived by her brother David (Becky) Auer of Peoria. She was Aunt Rosie to nieces Becky Elsner, Connie Adelman (Tony), Sandy Randall (Mike), Rozanne Elmore, Cheryl Lynn, Jane VeVea (Pat), and Jill Nora (Joe). Also nephews Greg Auer, Steve Auer (Sue), and Mark Auer (Nancy).
Rosemary began her working career in Peoria at the Peoria Auto Parts office. After moving to Wisconsin, she became office manager in the insurance business. She seldom missed work; something she is very proud of! She trained and mentored many people at Badger State Insurance Company until she retired at 60.
Although Dean suffered a debilitating stroke at age 39, he and Rosemary continued to travel extensively in the United Sates. They eventually traveled to all but one state and enjoyed cruises to the Panama Canal and other destinations. They always had their cameras with them as photography was their hobby throughout life. They collected and cataloged numerous photos of their trips and their family gatherings. Everyone always knew they needed to be prepared to "smile" when the Walks were around! Dean passed away several years after returning to Peoria. Rosemary remained his loving wife and caregiver until his death.
The family would like to thank all the many caregivers who supported and cared for Rosemary for many years at Lutheran Hillside Village. We will be forever grateful for their loving attention to our precious Rosemary. A private family service will be held later this week. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials in remembrance may be made to Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation. Online condolences can be submitted to www.woolsey-wilton.com.
