Ruth Marie Brooks

She was born March 18, 1941, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Archie and Ila (Thurman) Combs. Ruth married Donald E. Brooks, April 19, 1973. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Ruth grew up in Bartonville, IL and graduated from Limestone Community High School in 1959. Most of her time was spent being a stay-at-home mom. However, she did work at Armor & Co., Caterpillar and in the cafeteria at Limestone High School where she made many lasting friendships. She was an avid gardener and canner, growing every vegetable imaginable, which was shared with family, friends and neighbors. She loved spending time with family, friends, and her pet companion Boo. She especially enjoyed attending her granddaughter’s softball games and cross country meets. Ruth also looked forward to playing Bunco with friends and bringing cookies to her favorite nurses on treatment day.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Daylene Manning (Todd) Goetz of Auburn, IL; granddaughter, April Goetz of Morrisville, NC; stepdaughters, Donna Brooks and Deborah Ulrich; sister, Deloris "Dottie"(Steven) Loudy; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria, IL with visitation two hours before the ceremony. Private entombment will be at American Mausoleum in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
