Born September 12, 1917 in Peoria to Lois K. Albrecht and Frederick J. Schlatter, she married John E. Martin on March 19, 1943 at Camp Gruber in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Surviving is a son, Brian E. Martin of Peoria, IL. She was preceded in death by an infant son and her husband of 55 years.
Ruth was a graduate of Peoria High School and Bradley University with a B.S. degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. After graduation she taught Home Economics in District #150.
She held memberships in American Association of University Women, Pan Hellenic, Peoria Area Retired Teachers, Central Illinois Bradley Alumni Association, and Peoria Women's Club. She was a charter member of Willow Knolls Country Club.
She served on the Board of the Y.W.C.A. and the former Guyer Retirement Home. While living in Sun City Center, Florida, she was a member of the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine, Sonit Court #103. She was also a member of the Emblem Club #121 of Peoria.
She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.
Private inurnment will be at Springdale Cemetery.
