Sandra M. "Sandi" Purtscher, 81, of Edwards, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Born in Peoria, on July 13, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Vivian (Taylor) McGrew. On February 11, 1967, she married James "Jim" Purtscher.
Surviving is her husband, Jim Purtscher; two daughters, Debbie (Eric) Hoffman and Amy (Timothy) Nee; five grandchildren, Kyle and Emma Hoffman, Manuel Divino, III, and Maya and Caoimhe Nee. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marion "Bud" McGrew; and a sister, Opal "Charlene" Misener.
Sandi worked at EP!C (Empowering People Inspiring Capabilities) for many years, serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She also provided sign language instruction to allow employees to better communicate with their clients. She was an avid supporter of children and adults with disabilities and would serve as a regular volunteer at PUP (People with Unlimited Potential), which created social opportunities for individuals with disabilities. She would take individuals on trips and excursions to resorts, such as the Ozarks or Branson.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to EP!C, 1913 W Townline Rd. Peoria, IL 61615, in honor of Sandi Purtscher. Condolences and memories may be shared through Davison-Fulton.com
