21, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 22, 1942 in Peoria, IL to Lawrence and Bernice
(Hamilton) McGuire. She married Floyd Starnes on April 18, 1963 in Peoria, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Don, Bernard, and Jack
and two sisters, Patsy and Mary Jo.
Surviving is her husband, Floyd Starnes of Dunlap, three children, Shelley (Dennis)
Murphy of Peoria, Todd Starnes of Peoria and Shannon (Ron) Schooley of
Bartonville, IL. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Brooke (Derrick) Murphy-
Hostetter, Samantha Murphy, Molly (Josh) Carr, Kaylee, Chase and Cody
Schooley, Abby, Brandon and Hanna Starnes, two great-grandchildren, and one
sister, Maureen (Tom) Simmons of Bartonville.
Mom enjoyed making a home for her family, shopping with her girls, crocheting, gardening, entertaining, dancing , and was an unbelievable cook. She also had a passion for watching old classic movies, Bradley basketball and occasionally betting on the horses.
She was the best and most caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that anyone would be fortunate enough to have in their life. We were blessed to be a part of hers, “because those we have held in our arms a little while, we hold in our hearts forever”.
Mom also loved all of her pets, as they did her. Even her children’s pets knew when Grandma visited. Amazing as mom was, she crocheted baby blankets years ago for each of her grandchildren to be given to their first child.
Our mom has done so much for so many, it would be difficult to name them all.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a private Memorial Service will be held.
Woolsey- Wilton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Home of Peoria or to the OSF Hospice
Program. Please visit Sheila's life story at www.Woolsey-Wilton.com.
