She was born June 18, 1933 in Peoria to Charles and Jessie (Streitmatter) Hessling. She married Jack Diveley on July 5, 1952 in Peoria, he passed away December 24, 2015.
Shirley is also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.
She is survived by three children, David (Lynn) Diveley of Ft. Defiance, Virginia, Gregory (Joyce) Diveley of Chillicothe, Illinois, and Charles (Traci) Diveley of Raleigh, North Carolina, five grandchildren, Joshua (Megan) Diveley, Christopher (Justina) Diveley, Jenny (David) Lewis, Kayleigh and Rachael Diveley; five great grandchildren, Daniel, Connor, Camryn, Ariel, and Eliana.
Shirley embodied the highest qualities, showcased unwavering love, unshakeable faith in Christ, and an unrelenting generosity that transcended into her care for her community and loved ones.
Her leisure activities included bowling and golfing, while cross-stitching brought her joy, especially when done for family, friends, and church events. Her day started with hot tea, and she fervently supported the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, and the Bradley Braves.
As a devoted member of the United Methodist Church, she actively participated in various activities such as bazaars, food drives, and Bible study groups Most importantly she loved Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral chapel. Entombment will be in the Parkview Cemetery, Chapel of Peace, in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, to the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria or to a charity of the donors choice.
