

Born in Peoria, on November 25, 1948, he was the son of the late Fred and Ginger (Pearl) Rump. He graduated from Richwoods High School in 1967 and went on to attend Bradley University. Steven served in the US Navy from 1969 until being honorably discharged in 1971. In March 1969, he married Barbara Loveridge and started their wonderful marriage of 56 years.
Steven began working for the family business in 1971, and ultimately was the 4th generation owner and operator of George H. Rump Construction Co., retiring in 2013.
Surviving Steven is his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Stephanie (Daniel) Muno and Jennifer (Rodney) Nelson; four grandchildren, Zachary (Lindsay) Muno, Madison Nelson, Taylor (Josh Warner) Muno, and Logan Nelson; a sister, Debi (Chris) Frank; a brother-in-law, Jim (Susan) Loveridge, many nieces, nephews, and lifelong dear friends and business relationships. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, uncle, John P. Pearl; aunt Della Gavin, his sister, Cyndi Cox; and his beloved dog, Olive.
Steven was a lifelong sports fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bradley Basketball, as well as being an avid golfer. He and his wife enjoyed traveling over the years. He was a sharp, witty, and devoted family man who loved storytelling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Peoria at 12:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum with military honors. Visitation will take place at the church prior from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
