Yesterday, Su-yun's voice and facial expression were still so clear, as if in a dream. Today dream breaks , you are really away from us. Sadness are surrounded in everyone's heart. We miss Su-yun so much. Living in this world filled with various miseries, everyone will face his own challenges of aging, diseases and death, sooner or later. Su-yun, we pray for you getting rid of all the pain and enjoying  serenity and happiness in the paradise. We pray that your soul will always be with us, and always protecting Jian-xun and your children. Farewell, my old friend.

6 years roommate in medical schoold makes us life-long friendship. It iseems suddenly interuppted by the deadly cancer, but thw friendship will last forever and will encourage me to work harder in helping new anti-cancer therapy development. Now i have one more reason to say that I take it personally. 

Suyun- I will miss you, but I am happy for you to enjoy the peace and painlessness in heaven. God bless you.

Suyun Geng was born on August 18, 1968 in Beijing, China. Raised in a family filled with warmth and love, she developed into a wonderful woman who was open-minded, happy, kind, and loving. From 1981 to 1987, with her hard work and talent, Suyun was admitted into Beijing's No. 12 middle school, one of the most prestigious schools in China. From 1987 to 1993, she was accepted into Beijing Medical University with a major in Clinical Medicine. After she graduated in 1993, she was appointed as a physician to the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the People's Hospital of Beijing Medical University. In 1997, Suyun came to America with her husband. Soon after, she decided to study computer science at the California University of Pennsylvania. After she graduated with a Master's degree in computer science, Suyun worked as a software engineer for a number of internet and software companies.

In the meantime, two beautiful children were born. Her daughter Amy Zhou was born in the year 2000 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and her son George Zhou was born in the year 2004 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. To Suyun, these two children were undoubtedly the most wonderful gifts in her life. In 2011, Suyun committed to making her dream come true: becoming a full time stay-at-home mom and devoting all of her love to raising her family. 

In 2013, unfortunately, Suyun was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After three years of battling with this deadly cancer, Suyun passed away in the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home on July 20, 2016.

Suyun was so special! Even with a gifted talent and great potential for success in her career, she chose a different approach to satisfy her life. Her view of life was quite simple: to enjoy it, to take good care of her family, and to raise happy and healthy children. Walking along the trail with loved ones or cooking a delicious dinner would make her very happy. Suyun loved life very much, such that the torturous pain she endured did not make her lose her optimism, but instead made her better at discovering the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved reading. When reading became difficult for her during the end stage of her life, she continued to read by listening to audiobooks from the internet. Suyun loved the arts. She especially enjoyed visiting museums; Van Gogh's paintings were some of her favorites. In the museum, her mind became peaceful and her pain was eased. During the last four months of her life, she visited the California Huntington Library, and loved it so much that she wished to live in that community so that she could go there everyday. To reduce the negative impacts of cancer, Suyun taught herself the art of egg carving. Focusing on carving the thin eggshell was like meditation to her - it allowed her to transport into a beautiful and quiet world with nothing but carving. Suyun also loved music: in her childhood, she dreamed of becoming a guitarist, but due to a variety of reasons, her practice was frequently interrupted. Though she did not accomplish her dream, she inspired her son to take up this hobby, and he is becoming a great guitar player. Suyun loved to promote fitness and healthy eating. She was always happy when she ran along the trail while listening to music. Her positive attitude about living a healthy lifestyle helped her accomplish many things, such as running a marathon.

The beauty and determination that Suyun radiated will never be forgotten. She was so strong, persistent, humble and easygoing. To many people, Suyun was a gentle character, a cheerful companion, and an encouraging mentor. Whenever possible, she would actively involve herself in a variety of community and service activities, as helping others warmed her heart. 

Suyun-- gone with serenity to a better place --- paradise. Her life, though only half, was perfect. Being with her was my privilege, she is my other half. Thank you for changing and bettering our lives. I applaud you. Love you forever.
