

He was born on Aug. 9, 1937 in Peoria to Thomas and Doreatha Slavens. He married Delores “Dee” Cecil on Aug. 31, 1963 in Peoria. She passed away Jan. 30, 2013 in Florida.
Survivors include two sons: Don (DeAnna) Slavens of Peoria, Kevin (Leigh) Slavens of Peoria, four grandchildren: Sara (Ray) Besimi, Stephanie (Ryan) Tucker, Corey Slavens, Kaylee Slavens, two great-grandchildren: R.J., and Raiden Tucker, one brother, David (Peggy) Slavens of Peoria, and one sister, Patricia of Peoria.
Tom graduated from Peoria Woodruff High School in 1955. He then went into the United States Air Force serving from 1955 through 1959. Following his time in the Military, Tom attended Bradley University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
He first worked for Keystone Steel and Wire, Co. in Bartonville. Following Keystone he became an Executive Vice President of Peoria Savings and Loan then Tom and Dee moved to Sun City Center, Florida in 1996 where he was the Branch Manager of Sun Trust Bank in Sun City Center, FL.
He was a member of the Peoria Rotary Club, Peoria and Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the East Peoria Community Baseball program or the Alzheimer’s Association Peoria Chapter.
