Timothy Sunderland

Born February 5, 1958 in Peoria to Nancy (Blackard) and Michael Thomas Sunderland he married his high school sweetheart Jill Brewer on August 18, 1979. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter Chelsey and one son Jack both at home; five sisters Deborah Sunderland of Bartonville, Dianna Bowman of Metamora, Denise Sunderland and DeLora (Joe) Kauffman both of Peoria, and Deana McCormick of Yates City. Also surviving are two special nephews Michael Sunderland and Jesse Lockner whom he loved like his own sons and three other nephews Thomas, Jonathan and Christian; his mother Nancy (Ron) Vaughn of East Peoria also survives.

He was preceded in death by his father Michael Thomas and his grandparents John and Flossie whom we know welcomed him into heaven.

Tim was a laborer for Local 309 and 165. He served in the United States Marine Corps.

Tim’s greatest joy in life was bringing a smile to the faces of those he loved whether it was surprising us with gifts, fixing a favorite meal, or just saying something silly.

We will miss his loving smile and his witty sense of humor but are comforted knowing his suffering is over.

A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2011 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Father Terry Cassidy will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel and one half hour prior to mass on Thursday. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to an educational fund for his children at CEFCU.
