

He was born April 30, 1931 in Pawnee, OK to William and Randa (Hobbs) Slape. He married Sharon Carpenter on June 10, 1954 in Steelville, MO. She passed away June 23, 2009 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one great-granddaughter, Amy Wallace, six brothers, two sisters, and one son-in-law, Phillip Fisher, Sr.
Survivors include four children: Sandra (Michael) Kokotek of The Villages, FL, Steven (Janet) Slape of Tempe, AZ, Deborah (Gordon) Crow of Metamora, and Dennis (Abbi) Slape of Germantown Hills. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Emily (Robert) Mixson, Christopher (Janessa) Crow, Molly (Zack) Valent, Heather (TJ) Esnaola, William Slape, Aurelia Slape, Delphine Slape, five great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Geraldine Beshears of Pocahontas, IL, and Linda Diaz of Steelville, MO.
Troy was a United States Army veteran. Following his time in the service, he was a self-employed barber in Bridgeton, MO. Later he moved to Peoria, IL and was the Maintenance Foreman for Northwood’s Mall from 1973 to 1999.
Funeral services will be Friday Sep. 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Burial with Military Honors will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
