Valeria M. Reed

She was born March 21, 1920 in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of Andrew and Veronica Swary Hancher. She married Howell “Gene” Reed on April 21, 1940. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2008.

Valeria is survived by four sons, Gordon (Mary) Reed of Grand Rapids MN, Larry (Linda) Reed of Eureka, Robert (Christina) Reed of Tremont, and Rick (Beverly) Reed of Buford, Georgia; twelve grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and four Step-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Florence McNeely of Pekin, Regena (Robert) Meaker of Wyoming, Josephine Hancher of Pekin, and Marcella (Dale) Rouland of Morton.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Valeria loved family gatherings and gardening. She also loved reading, poetry, taking pictures, traveling, and especially playing golf.

She worked in the clerical department at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for 8 ½ years and later worked for an insurance brokerage company for seventeen years.

Valeria was a member of the Fondulac Ladies Golf League.

In the past, her family belonged to the First Baptist Church in Chillicothe and was very active members.

Funeral Services will be at 11am Friday, August 26, 2016 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Pastor Doane Brubaker will officiate.

Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Edelstein.
