Velma was born May 10, 1921 in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of Charles & Edna Thomas. She married Kenneth A. McKinney. She later married James Witt in Peoria on February 26, 1983. He preceded her in death in Peoria on May 15, 2011.
She is survived by one son Ken McKinney of Longboat Key, FL; one daughter, Mary Jean McKinney of Peoria; 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Betty) Thomas of Galva; and several nieces and nephews.
Velma was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sandy; and two husbands.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria . Rev. Dr. L. Arvil Bass will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
