Verena Marie Kaeppler, age 93, of Peoria, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at the Apostolic Christian Skylines Nursing Home in Peoria, Illinois.
Verena was born on March 31, 1933 in Peoria, IL to Ernest and Anna Schneider. They preceded her in death.
She graduated from Woodruff High School and then worked for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and later Illinois Mutual Life Insurance. She was a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church where she also taught Sunday School.
Verena married Rolf Kaeppler on December 23.1973. She moved to Toledo, Ohio where they made their home and shared 21 years together. In July 1995, Verena and Rolf fulfilled a lifelong dream when they built their beautiful home in Sedona, Arizona, where they retired. They embraced the beauty of the Southwest and especially loved hiking amongst the Red Rocks and camping in their VW bus. They also enjoyed sharing this beauty with their many visitors. In addition, they volunteered many years delivering Meals On Wheels to those less fortunate. They also traveled often to Europe, especially to Rolf’s homeland in Germany. In 2019 they moved to Granite Gate Senior Living Community in Prescott Arizona to be closer to their home church. Rolf, her husband of 50 years, passed away August 2024. In September 2024, Verena relocated to the Apostolic Christian Skylines Nursing Home in Peoria, IL.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Ulla Kaeppler, of Alpharetta, GA, her brothers, Norvin Schneider of Peoria, IL, and Norbert Schneider (Mary Jane) of Bogart, GA, grandson Kyle Kaeppler of Atlanta, GA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Peoria, IL with visitation one hour before the service. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery near Edwards, IL.
