Victoria O. Ayiku

Victoria Odeibea Ayiku, 73 died May 26th 2021 in Peoria, IL. Born January 28, 1948 in Accra, Ghana. Victoria was preceded in death by her husband, Paul (1940-2012). She is survived by 2 brothers (Kwami Wemegah and Stanley Nii Odei Appiah) and 2 sisters (Doris Amartey and Georgina Babatola). Victoria is survived by many aunties and uncles including Mrs Victoria Adomakoh and Prof. Mrs. Ardayfio Schandorf.

Victoria leaves behind 2 sons and two daughters; Christian, Benjamin, Victoria and Pauline and several informally adopted children. Also, she was survived by eight grandchildren. The grandchildren are Adede, Asi, Carbo, Chelsea, Joshua, Joana, Keziah and Victoria-Lucy. She never knew a stranger and instantly became a mother, friend and confidante to anyone she met.

Victoria was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peoria, IL and a member of Christ Anglican Church in Legon, Ghana. She was a member of the Mother’s Union at Christ Anglican Church and served on the visitation group. She loved the Lord deeply and was a woman of unshakeable faith. One of her favorite hymns was ‘Pass me not O gentle Savior’.

Victoria worked at the University of Ghana, Legon for over 30 years. She loved playing soccer, exercising and was a lifelong member of the Legon keep-fit club. Affectionately called ‘Allow’, or ‘Vickylii’ or ‘Miss Legon’ or ‘Life Woman’ or ‘Lufthansa’, she was a fashionable lady in every sense of the word.

She will be missed by all and will be remembered always for the loving person she was. May she rest in the bosom of the Lord Almighty until the day of resurrection.

Victoria's funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. (4:00 p.m. GMT) Saturday, June 19, 2021 at St. Paul Episcopal Church 3601 N. North St. Peoria, IL 61604. Her visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. GMT) also on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
