Violet Fern Schreiber

Violet Fern Schreiber, 95, of Morton, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was born on February 5, 1928 in rural Blue Earth, Minnesota, a daughter of William C. and Hazel (Berhow) Mitchell. Violet married Julius James "Pete" Schreiber on January 25, 1948 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1998 in Morton.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Rev. William Schreiber; one brother; and two sisters.

Violet is survived by her three daughters, Bonita (George) Ackron of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Alice (Michael) Fritch of Metamora, and Judith (John) Lee of Madison, Alabama; her daughter-in-law, Karen Schreiber of Preston, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Van Houten of Farmington.

Violet was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton. She was also a member of the Black Partridge Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Violet's funeral service will be private. Rev. Jeff Anderson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton.
