

Born in Peoria, on January 28, 1935, he was the son of the late Samuel and Katie (Zeller) Unsicker. On December 2, 1956, he married Lucille E. Lauber.
Surviving Wayne is his wife of almost 70 years, Lucille Unsicker; four children, Louise (Ron) Walder, Barb (Bryan) Criswell, Chip (Susan) Unsicker, and Karen (Bryce) Coulter; ten grandchildren, Caleb (Angie) Walder, Olivia (Nikita) Sorokin, Gabe (Lindsay) Walder, Christina (Chris) Ellis, Bryanna Criswell, Elizabeth (Brock) Streitmatter, Luke Unsicker, Remington Criswell, Jenessa (Josh) Wuebben, and Gena Unsicker; and seven great-grandchildren. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Leslie, Ed, Melvin, and Marion Unsicker; and two sisters, Esther Noah and Mildred Unsicker.
Wayne was a lifelong farmer in the Peoria area. He was a loving husband and father, teaching by example. He loved traveling, especially spending winters in Florida and summers fishing in Canada. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Sheridan Road for 71 years, serving on the church board, and as Sunday school superintendent and teacher of Sunday school. He loved his church and church family. His laughter and storytelling will be greatly missed by friends and family.
The family would like to especially thank the staff of Transitions Hospice for the wonderful care they provided, and the personal friends who acted as caregivers in his final days.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation will take place on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Peoria Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
