Mr. William "Bill" V. Becks Jr.

He was born on December 8, 1930 in Quincy, IL the only child of William V. and Agnes Bernadette (Holtschlag) Becks Sr. He married Joan Lewis on September 26, 1953 in Peoria and they celebrated 59 years of marriage until her death on January 27, 2013.

Bill is also preceded in death by his parents and his son, Gregory V. Becks.

He is survived by his son, Victor (Sue) Becks of Florida.

Bill moved to Peoria with his parents in 1934 when Becks Florist was established. In 1953, Bill took over ownership of the original Peoria location on Corrington Avenue. Upon his father’s death in February 1986 he continued to grow the business with the merging of the store located at 4 corners in East Peoria. He was proud to be a 3rd generation florist. His pride and joy was the warehouse facility that was built in the early 1990’s that encompassed the interior plantscaping division, wholesale division, Christmas decorating division and central design and flower preparation facility. He enjoyed spending the majority of his retirement there up until the last few years.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Father Gregory Jozefiak will officiate. The family will receive friends half hour prior to the service at the mausoleum.
