He was born on February 18, 1941 in Granite City, Illinois to William and Peggy Copeland Sr. He previously married Sharon Black. She preceded him in death.
Bill is also preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, and his son, William Copeland III.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristine (Daniel) Sherrer of Waynesville, MO; his grandchildren, William Copeland IIII "Little Billy", Tara Copeland, Kellie Sherrer, Katharyne Bassett, and Kenith Sherrer; and his great-grandchildren, Damon, Macy, Leeana, Grayson, Hadley, and Josie.
Bill served in the United States Army as a chef until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement he went on to be a truck driver for several years.
He enjoyed working on auto mechanics, gardening, his hobby farm, and was of Baptist faith.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 11am, at Camp Butler Cemetery with full Military honors.
