He was born on June 15, 1931, to John and Amelia (McElfresh) Hartmann in Hanna City, Il.
He married Verna M. Kraeger on June 24, 1956, in Peoria, IL. She survives.
He is also survived by one daughter Kristel (Phil) Zobrist, one son Gary Hartmann (Francis Gravel); four grandchildren Brandon Zobrist, Benjamin (Emily) Zobrist, Adam (Katie) Zobrist, and Avery Hartmann-Ferland; three great grandchildren Jane, Gabriel and Oswald; also many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by both parents, one daughter Lenese; three brothers Richard, John and Raymond; and one sister Marie.
He held many different titles in his life, he was a farmer, worked for Coca Cola, and was a truck driver for Akron Services of Edelstein. He held the title of Road Commissioner of Radner Township for four years. He was a volunteer fireman for the Dunlap Fire Department for thirty years.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on August 26, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Pastor’s Chip Winter and Phil Doublestein will officiate.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, it is the families wishes that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Lutheran Hillside Village Benevolent Fund, or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
