

William “Bill” Dean Schick, 64, of Edwards, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023 in the comfort of their home. He was born in Peoria, Illinois on August 15th, 1958 to John and Pauline “Dolly” (Feucht) Schick of Morton, Illinois.
Bill married Joan Hoerr of Peoria on June 11th, 1978. Throughout their marriage, Bill and Joan shared many amazing adventures, guided by the calling of the Lord. They are blessed with and survived by 16 children, Billy and Jenny (Honegger) of Peoria; Ryan and Katy (Daniel) of Katy, TX; Tyler and Sara (Maher) of Eureka, John and Suzi (Martinez) of Eureka, Katie and Denver Slagel of Magdalena, MX, Uriel Schick of Magdalena, MX, Ben Schick of Peoria, Lilly and Marcos Valenzuela of Tucson, AZ, Michelle and Lucas Gray of Bloomington, Karla of Tecate, MX, Tania of San Diego, CA, Angel of Bloomington, Jazany and Wesley Hartzell of Washington and Mario, Julissa, and Estephania residing at home.
They’ve been blessed with 19 grandchildren: Willow and Tate (Billy), Olive, Oakley, and Boston (Ryan), Evie, Violet, Scout, Louis and Lola (Tyler), Penny, Job, Solomon, and Ramona (John), Jude (Katie), Scarlett, Aiden, and Marcos William (Lilly), and Baby Boy Hartzell due in July (Jazany).
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Steve and Ted.
Bill is survived by 2 brothers, Tom (Carol) Schick and Scott (Dawn) Schick, both of Morton, and 3 sisters, Jeanie (John) Dotterer of Eureka, Sandy (Dan) Guingrich of Brownsburg, IN, and Mary (Max) Pfaffmann of Washington.
Bill relied on God's Shield of Faith throughout his life with Christ. He gave his heart in repentance to Jesus and was baptized in 1973. He and Joan cherished serving together throughout their 44 years of marriage. Bill loved serving people in whatever place he met them. Whether during his early years at Hoerr Nursery, various roles at Sprinkler Irrigation/Builders Plumbing Supply, serving at Gateway Woods, MCCD in Rio Bravo, Casa Vida y Esperanza in Magdalena, Mexico, Berean Prison Ministry in Peoria, Freedom 4 Life, farming with family, or the revolving doors of ventures with which he was involved, Bill sought to make an impact for the Lord in every facet of his life. He said he became an extrovert because God's message was simply too good to keep to himself.
Bill’s funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, April 15th, at the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church. His visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm, Friday, April 14th, at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home (2408 W. Willow Knolls Dr, Peoria, IL 61614) with additional visitation held from 9:00-9:45am, preceding the funeral service. Burial will follow the service at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Edwards.
