Wilma Sulaski

PEORIA - Wilma Sulaski, age 99, of Peoria passed away on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Liberty Village in Peoria.Wilma was born on July 14, 1915, to Curtis and Josephine (Nash) Griffiths in Sorento, Il. She married Michael L. Sulaski of Springfield, Il. He preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by her four sons and their spouses, Robert L. (Barbara M.) Sulaski of Edwards, Il, Ronald C. (Barbara L.) Sulaski of Brimfield, Il, William D. (Susan K.) Sulaski of Normal, Il, and Gary M. (Diana J.) Sulaski of Findlay, Il; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Vaughn Griffiths of St. Louis, Mo., Euell Griffiths of Sorento, Il, Irvin Griffiths of Sorento, Il, and Wanda Dressor of Greenville, Il. Wilma was born and raised on the family farm in Sorento, Il She graduated from Sorento High School. After high school, she moved to Springfield, Il, where she met and married Michael L. Sulaski. They moved to Peoria in 1936, where she began working her homemaker magic. Her four sons were the main focus of her life and after they were out of college and married, the fun years began for her and Mike. They were active members of the Caterpillar Retirees Club, UAW Retirement Club and Caterpillar Square Dance Club. She and Mike belonged to Forrest Hill Methodist Church of Peoria. When Mike retired, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. After Mike died in 1992, Wilma remained in their home at 3821 N. Grand Blvd., in Peoria, Il, for several years, until she moved to Riverview Retirement Home in East Peoria, where she enjoyed 12 years with her friends and the Riverview staff. The funeral service will be at noon Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 W. Willow Knolls Road, Peoria. The visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
