Zebedee M. "Zeb" Gardner

Zebedee M. “Zeb” Gardner, age 69, of Peoria, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at his residence. He was born December 16, 1947 in Elmore County, AL to Rev. Jake and Henrietta Gardner. He married Sandra Pettett in Peoria. She passed away July 2, 2001 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by one son, Zachary Gardner; four brothers: Lee, Joe, Nathaniel, James Gardner; and one sister Mary Gardner.

Survivors include one son, Zeb (Hedy) Gardner of Peoria; two granddaughters: Romi and Gia Gardner of Peoria; four brothers: Robert (Johnnie) Gardner of Chicago, Arthur Gardner of Clarksville, TN, Wilbert Gardner of Dallas, TX and William (Christine) Gardner of Montgomery, AL; two sisters: Annie (Earl) Haugabook of Brandon, FL and Gladys (Minister Robert) Turner of Chicago, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Zeb worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years retiring in 1994. Zeb was a golf enthusiast, playing all over Peoria, all year long. He loved to share his love of golf with his sons and granddaughters. His granddaughters were the apple of his eye. Much of his free time was spent with them golfing, cooking, playing cards and dominoes. Many family outings were spent at his favorite restaurant, The Lariat Club, where he was a patron for over 30 years.

Zeb was quiet, humble and a true gentleman and will be deeply missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be Friday October 13, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Memorials may be made to the Richwood’s High School girls and boys golf team, Peoria Park District youth golf program, or Holy Family Catholic School.
