

Shaw, Allan Thaxter ‘Tack’ – After a courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimers disease, Tack died peacefully at home on November 25, 2012 with family present and his dog ‘Bailey’ at his side. He was a loving husband to his wife Bunny for 61 years. His love, humour and guidance will be greatly missed by his family. Tack was the adored father of Debora, Catherine and Susan (Larry Stinson), and loved Gramps of Jennifer (Shyanne), Jillian, Sarah (Adrian), Hallie (Eli), Nigel and Kasane, Evan, Thomas and Alexander. He was the proud Great-Gramps of Vayda, Lux and Austin. Tack was born in Huntsville and at an early age moved to Omemee. He was a conscientious fireman of the Canadian National Railroad until joining the Ontario Provincial Police where he proudly served until he retired in 1989. He was a past Master of the Lorne Lodge A.F. & A.M. #375 Omemee (1976), accomplished the 32rd degree in the Scottish Rite and was a member of the Shrine Club. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held in the Parlour at TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, 360 Reid St on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Tack’s life will take place in the Trinity Sanctuary where he was an active and beloved member Monday at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Peterborough, V.O.N. Peterborough Branch, or Trinity United Church.
