Barbara Dorothy Whatley

The family announces with sorrow her passing on Christmas day, December 25, 2025 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of Robert Whatley for 67 years. Deeply missed by her daughters Kimberley Brooks (Todd), Susan Whatley, Julie Whatley-Johnson (Walter), Sherri Fenton (Lorne) and Barb Brydges (the late Mark). Proud grandmother of Lyndsey Zoric (née Brooks) (Sasa), Chase Brooks (Lauren), Taylor Brooks (Lisa), Danielle Rowe, Dustin Rowe (Allysa), Kandace Herron (Wilson), Wyatt Rowe, Joe Whatley (Charlotte), Matt Hamilton, Ashley Fenton (Josh), Jesse Brydges (Kendall), Larissa Brydges and Rachel Brydges. Cherished great-grandma of 18. Predeceased by her parents Norman and Dorothy Graham (later MacDowell, née McMahon). Beloved sister of the late Don Graham (survived by Joan), the late Sharon (née Graham), Jackie, Katherine, Arlene, Carrie-Lynn and the late Russell MacDowell. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Barbara worked for many years at Tom’s Quickcheck and Jeff Purvey’s. In her retirement, she enjoyed travelling and spending time with family. Barb will also be missed by her beloved fur companion, dog Molly.

Barbara's family is deeply grateful for the care and kindness she received from the PSWs, nurses and staff at Peterborough Extendicare.

A Private Family Service will be held with interment at Little Lake Cemetery. Friends are invited to gather and celebrate Barbara’s life at the Ashburnham Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough on Friday, January 2nd from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. In Barb’s memory, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
