OBITUARY

Charles Harold Fish

July 18, 1915February 14, 2013

Went to be with his Lord. Peacefully, with family at his side, at St. Joseph’s at Fleming on Thursday, February 14, 2013 in his 98th year. Dearly loved husband of the late Helen (nee Dunning). Loved father of Barbara Mountney (Doug), Willis (Laurel), Catherine Burrows (Richard) and Donald (Cathy). Cherished grandfather of John Mountney (Lorrie), Kerry Saltern (John), Tonya Fish-Plante (Jean Charles) and Tim Fish (Shannon); special great-grandfather of Mark, Ben, Taylor, Matthew, Jackson and Tristan. Much loved by many nieces and nephews. Charles was born in Cambridge, Nova Scotia and joined the Air Force serving as Chief Cook in the Officer’s Mess on the Alaska Highway. During his life he had many careers (farmer, sheet metal worker, school bus driver and Sunday School Superintendent). He devoted his life to God and helping others. During retirement he continued to devote many hours to his volunteer work (driving for others, helping seniors with his handyman skills and Meals On Wheels). He was an inspiration and role model to both family and friends. A memorial service will be held at AUBURN BIBLE CHAPEL, 911 Armour Road on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Garry Robinson officiating. If desired memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Bible Society, Hope Valley Day Camp or a charity of your choice. It was our joy to share Auburn Village residency with Charlie for five years and the better we got to know him, the more we loved and respected his Christian graces and loving personality. Now he is reunited with his beloved Helen, and with the Lord whom he served faithfully for so many years.

Always with a smile on his face, his kind soul and pleasant manner rubbed off on everybody that met him. I have special memories when he and my grandmother (his sister Janie Brown) took me places when I was young. I am glad he got to enjoy a long life and am certain he's one of God's special angels up in heaven. God bless those he has left behind.

Charlie is Home in Heaven. This wonderful man was a new friend to me in 2010 as he would drop by to visit Pop ( Paul Collet) sometimes bringing strawberries or watermelon. My favorite memory is when he would bring his violin and we would worship the Lord with the old hymnals. Precious memories for me. Condolences from Nancy and Dennis Collet. Charlie, you have been an amazing blessing. Well done good and faithful servant.
