Dorothy Anne Milne Bowen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Anne Bowen (née Milne), who left us peacefully on December 30, 2024, at the age of 96 in Peterborough, Ontario.

Dorothy was born on January 18, 1928, to loving parents Mildred (McMahon) and William Milne in a time of resilience and hope. She grew up with a profound appreciation for family, friendship and the simple joys of life. Dorothy married the love of her life, building a warm and nurturing home filled with laughter, kindness, and cherished memories.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Dorothy was a lifelong learner, avid reader, and an unwavering source of wisdom and support to those around her.

She is predeceased by her husband James Allan Bowen (1924-1994) and lovingly remembered by her children Christine (Blainey) and James Bowen, grandchildren Joseph and Patrick Blainey and Jasper Bowen-Shepherd, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she enriched.

Dorothy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and staff at Springdale Country Manor in Peterborough for their kindness and support during her final years.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at a future date.

Dorothy’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
