DOWNER "Butch" (George) - At Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Thursday, June 25, with his family by his side. Butch was a long time Peterborough Sports Trainer with the Peterborough Petes and Lakers Lacrosse, played senior slow pitch and was a valued employee of Fleming College. Beloved husband of Brenda Metcalfe. Dear father of Paula (Randy Freeburn) and Brian (Tracey). Cherished Poppa to Brittany, and Cassidy, both of Peterborough and seven step-grandchildren. Special uncle of Curt. Dear brother of Isabel Spencer (late Bernard), Terry (Carol), Carol (Larry Richard) and Susan White (late Ron) and brother-in-law John Syer. Predeceased by sister Joyce and Beverley and Terry Biggs, also pre-deceased by parents George and Dorothy Downer. Dear brother in Law to Sandra Kaes, Brian Metcalfe (Maria), Sharon (Mark) Heal, Rosalie (Joe) Keating and Wilma (late Rick Metcalfe. Son-in-law of the late Fred and Edith Metcalfe and remembered by special friend Rachel. A celebration of Butch's Life will be held at the Ashburnham Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 840 Armour Road, on Monday June 29 at 2:00 pm with visitation prior to the service from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm.
