

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa on Tuesday November 19th at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Shirley (Thomson) Fair (2021) Dear father of Dan (Judy) and the late James (1992). Cherished Grandpa to Gregory (Alicia) Michael (Ariel) Peter (Maciej) and Matthew. Great Grandpa to Quinn, Maverick, Zatanna, Shyleigh, Lily, Hayley, Cole and the late Averie (2016). Predeceased by his parents William and Ida (Fallis) and brothers & sister-in laws, Jack, Joe (Maretta), Bob (Jean), Walker (Thelma), Roy (Lorena) and sisters Jean (Bill Mallion) Doris (Griffin) and will be greatly missed by sister Audrey and brother-in-law Fred Griffin. Dad will be fondly remembered by all his nieces and nephews.
George was an avid curler and belonged to the Peterborough Curling Club for many years. George retired in 1995 from Cable TV, then George and Shirley travelled all over Canada and the United States. They enjoyed many summers at the Lake with the family. George loved to sing, and sang with the Tri City Chorus and Aces of Harmony. He was a member of the Corinthian Lodge No. 101 as a mason for over 50 years, as well a Shriner.
A celebration of life will be held at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough, on Wednesday November 27, 2024 at 11:00 am. Visitation is from 10:00 to 11:00 am preceding the service. Inurnment to follow at the Ninth Line Cemetery, Cavan, Ontario. There will be a masonic service at 9:30 am.
The Family would like to extend their gratitude to Princess Gardens, Dr. Matheson, and the nursing staff in the Palliative unit at PRHC for the compassionate care Dad received.
