Iva Jean Short Skill

May 24, 1927 - July 4, 2025

We are saddened to share that Iva Skill (nee Short) passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025 at the age of 98. Over nearly a century of life, she saw the world change in countless ways and she met it all with a quiet strength and love for those around her.

Iva was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Jean Short; her husband, Henry Skill; and her siblings, Irene (Alf) Godfrey, Isabel (Arnold) Nelson, and Mac (Margaret) Short. She is survived by her children, Judy Nix, Frank (Patti) Skill, Arthur Skill, and George Skill; her grandchildren, Shannon Nix (Alison Whelan), Kevin (Ruth) Nix, Em Newton, Tom Skill, Rebecca (Michael) Greaves, and Nathaniel Skill; and her great-grandchildren, Rachel Nix, Jakob Nix and Luke Greaves; and numerous nieces and nephews who she dearly loved and who loved her.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead we invite those who knew her to take a quiet moment, preferably with some chocolate, to remember her in your own way. That’s what she would have wanted.
