With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janice (née Huggins) Doris on February 26, 2026.
Beloved wife of Bill, whom she married on February 27, 1987. Loving mother of Jessica and Joseph (Rebecca). Proud Nana to Everleigh, MJ, William, and Violet. Dear mother-in-law to Mike Swift.
Cherished sister of Jeff (Barb) Huggins and sister-in-law of Eileen (Dave) Huggins. Predeceased by her parents Neil and Patricia Huggins, and her brothers Daryl Huggins, Dave Huggins, and Joel Huggins
Fond sister-in-law of Linda Kempt (predeceased by her husband John), Rosemary (Wade) Doris, Pauline (Gerald) Heffernan, and Paul Doris. Predeceased by Pat Doris, Brian Doris, and Herb Doris.
A loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, Janice held each of them close to her heart.
Janice grew up on Water Street in Peterborough, where she enjoyed countless gatherings with family and friends there and at nearby Inverlea Park. She attended St. Lawrence College in Kingston before beginning a long and successful career as a legal secretary. The family extends a special thank you to her long-time employer, Jim and Mary Hauraney, for their many years of support and friendship.
Janice had a deep love of horses, a passion she shared with her mother. She was known for her kindness, her humour, and her love for a good card game.
Janice lived with Multiple Sclerosis for nearly 25 years, facing her illness with remarkable strength, grace, and without complaint. She resided at Lakefield Extendicare for the past 14 years, and the family offers heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff who cared for and befriended her throughout that time.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Ashburnham Funeral Home.
