

GREER, J. Frederick “Fred” (WWII Veteran) – Passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the age of 93. Beloved husband and best friend of Doris (née Thayer) for 70 years. Dear father of Tim, Joe and his wife Linda. Loving grandfather of Kelly, Melissa and her husband Mark Hay. Fondly remembered by niece Marilyn Thayer, her husband Bob Burnell, nephews George, John, Mark and Kirk, and sister-in-law Dorothy Thayer.
Private Greer served his country during World War II when he landed at Juno Beach, fought in the battle of Caen and marched through France and Holland as part of the effort to free the Dutch people. He worked as an electrician at General Electric in Peterborough for forty-two years. He belonged to Legion Branch 52. He was a long time member of St. George’s Anglican church in Peterborough.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street.
