October 7, 1940 – December 10, 2024
Peacefully in his sleep at Hospice Peterborough. Loving husband to Dianne (née Loucks). Beloved dad of Aimée (Coby) and Christopher (Angalee). Brother of Kathleen (Keith) and Brian (Debbie), and brother-in-law of Dorothy. Predeceased by brother Paul and parents Joseph and Eileen.
Joe loved his children and ensured they had every opportunity, making sure he was present at important moments and sports events.
Joe left an impression wherever he went. Always the social butterfly, he was always up for a chat. Everyone has their own Joe story.
The original owner of Smitty’s Restaurant, this suited his outgoing personality and helped the business thrive over his nearly 30 years as its ‘soup-ervisor.’ Joe was very fond of his staff, and his regulars.
He loved a good game of cards, especially Bugger Bridge, and loved his home (and his sunsets) on Stoney Lake. He was a great lover of art and travel. Every guest was met at the door with “what can I get you to drink?” His cheeky humour and dry wit will live on in the memories of those that love him.
Cremation has taken place, and a service and reception will be held at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Rd., Peterborough on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 12P.M. with visitation for one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Peterborough in Joe’s memory would be greatly appreciated: www.hospicepeterborough.org/donate-now
