Mrs. June Mary Forrester

June 3, 1934February 18, 2021

June Mary Leontine Forrester (Trotter) was a rare spirit – a realist and optimist who saw the good in everyone. She left us peacefully on February 18, 2021 to join the love of her life, the late Norman Forrester, whom she met at 15 in her birthplace of Montreal.

Together they created the big, somewhat boisterous family June treasured more than anything: her children Michael (Yunhan), John (Wendy), April (Lorne), Marilyn (David) Burns, and Glen (Josina); grandchildren Tara, Jennifer, Carly, Jimmy, Benjamin, Naomi, Elijah, Zaia; great grandchildren Jayla, Aubrey, Raelyn, Brooklyn, Kingston, Landon, Olivia; and bonus grandkids Jillian, Jen, Zack, Evan and Harrison. She cherished her sisters Linda and the late Jean, late brother Johnny (Lise), sisters- and brothers-in-law.

With family as her foundation, June was determined to live a vibrant, creative and independent life. A gifted artist, she earned her B.F.A. degree in her 50s and went on to teach adults and children. She pursued her Grade 10 conservatory piano in her 70s and was a dedicated volunteer at local schools and the PRHC.

In recent times, she and her entire family were most grateful for the extraordinary care and compassion of the staff at Lakefield Extendicare.

June valued education and the life of the imagination. She would have been happy to see memorial donations go to the Trent Fund at Trent University to be used for art and music projects.

A private Mass will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Peterborough Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Friends wishing to view the service through Livestream may contact Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre at 705-745-4683 or by email at for access. Online condolences may be made at

My best memories of June involve the library at Mount Pleasant, and the Bruce Johnston Library. June was my volunteer and encourager, I loved to see her and Norm on their frequent visits. I have two of June's paintings in our home, and I treasure them because they remind me of a lovely woman who was not only a library patron but a dear friend. I was so sad to see her obituary. My sympathy to the family, and most particularly Marilyn and her children, who also frequented the library many years ago in Mount Pleasant .

Barbara and I are sorry to hear of June's passing. I grew to like her very much, working for her in her garden and having her in my choir for a brief time.
Our condolences to Marilyn and the rest of the family.

To Michael, John, April, Marilyn, Glen and their families, I want to extend our deepest condolences for the loss of your mother. She had a magical quality about her that was infectious and that she used to corral the five of you while growing up on Neville Park. She was always kind and caring, to me and all the others that invaded the household. What a wonderful example she set for all of you. I know she will live on in your hearts. Inez remembers her wit and humor and we still treasure the strawberry china set she gave as a wedding shower gift some 43 years ago. We are happy to make a contribution in her name to the Trent Fund for education.

David and Marilyn, Very sorry to that such a spirited woman has left us. Of all the times I had the pleasure of meeting her, she always had me cracking a laugh. Your family will be a bit quieter, but so rich in the legacy that she has left for you all.
Please accept our condolences, Danny and Vera

Dear Forrester Family,

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your mother. I have had several good conversations with her. One in particular that I fondly recall was about poetry at the 60th birthday party of David Burns in Cavan. I have been acquainted with her since my friendship began with Marilyn Forrester in the 1980's. She was a vibrant and warm lady and I will miss not seeing her in the future.

My sympathies for this difficult time in your lives.
