Kathleen Mary Wells Woods

Peacefully passed on Saturday July 20th, 2013. Katie was born on January 14th, 1924 in Brantford. Previously deceased by her husband, James Beverly Woods (2005). Lovingly remembered by her 3 children and their spouses, George and Ingrid of Ferndale, Washington, Mary and Lou of San Clemente, Ecuador and William and Sue of Buckhorn, Ontario. Katie adored her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Charles), Michael, Stephanie and Paul and her 2 great grandchildren, Jackson and Nigel. "Kay" will be missed by her brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Audrey Wells of Cambridge and many nieces and nephews. Always adventurous, Katie struck off for Bermuda as a young nurse in 1947. The illness of her Mother, required her return to Cambridge. Bev was pleased to welcome back his sweetheart. Throughout high school Bev was enamored with Katie writing in her poetry book, "Beautiful Blonde, Flame Red Lips, Sweater Girl, Mmm." They were married on September 4th, 1948. Katie spent their first years of marriage nursing in Kingston while Bev attended university. She often recalled amusing stories of living in a small apartment where they were allowed washing and shower privileges once a week. Living conditions improved upon graduation when they initially settled in Waterdown. Throughout their many moves, Katie was a devoted Mom teaching her children the joy of laughter, the importance of resiliency and to always have a kind heart. Woodser gatherings are infamous for their conversations of escalating loudness ending in peals of laughter. Katie's final years were spent at Jackson Creek Retirement Residence in Peterborough near William and Sue. She's remembered fondly as a "great lady" by family and friends.
