Peacefully, passed away at Fairhaven LTC, on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Joyce Munks. Loving father of Samantha (Matt), Sharon (Chris), Mandy, Claire (Steve), Darren (Sarah), and Jerome (Mary). Proud grandfather of Marcus, Scott, Jack, Ben, Calan, Shaye and Evie; and great-grandfather of Kiera and Maddison. Lovingly remembered by many friends and relatives in the U.K. and Canada.
Ken loved being outdoors and as a young man explored the countryside of England, Spain, Italy and other European countries. He covered thousands of miles, both hiking and on motorcycle, discovering new places and meeting unforgettable families during his travels. He always enjoyed sharing these adventures with friends and family around the dinner table. After retirement he and Joyce spent many summers in a caravan in the east of England on the coast of the North Sea. In Canada, cottage life allowed him to pursue fishing, campfires and even kayaking.
Ken truly cared about the children he looked after through his job with the Children’s Aid Society. He was someone that always put the children’s needs first. Ken thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren. Ken was a lover of classic cars and proud member of the Around Sheffield Morris Minor Owners Club, enjoyed hunting with his good friend Bill, and tending to the garden, particularly his prized tomatoes. He was an avid reader, always interested in learning more of the history and science of the world. His curiosity for learning was passed on to his children who have all followed their own successful career paths.
In keeping with Ken’s wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 748 Cumberland Avenue, on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 1 PM. . In memory of Ken, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by his family. Online condolences may be made at www.comstockkaye.com
