Lois Broadhurst passed peacefully on August 8, 2025 at Peterborough Hospice following a brief illness. She managed the last weeks and days of her life with grace, dignity and bravery.
She was born in Toronto, Ontario to parents Kenneth Wilson and Marie Parsons Wilson on December 20, 1932. Sadly, Marie passed on January 12, 1933. She resided with her father and her grandparents, Frank and Annie Wilson until her father married her lifelong mother, Helen Wilson (Wheeler).
She moved to Peterborough, Ontario at the age of 19, where she met and married Ken Broadhurst, the love of her life. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on June 12, 2025.
She is survived by her husband Ken, daughter Nancy Shea (Sheldon) and their children Katie (Paul Blake), and Linden, Paisley and Sutton, Mark (Jen), and Mckenna and Nathan, Michael (Stefanie), and Wade, Eddie and Sophie, Laura Smith (Mike), and Dean, Ivy, Scott and Martin; her son Stephen (Bonnie) and their children Lindsay, Jenny (Ronnachai Jaisamutr), Stephanie and Ben (Suzie) and Ellie and Luther, daughter Elizabeth Halka, and daughter Mary Murphy. Predeceased by her father, Kenneth Wilson, and her mothers, Helen Wilson, and Marie Wilson, and her granddaughter Charlotte Halka. She is also survived by her sister Jane Hunter (Lorne), cousin Kathy Bodden (Bruce) and her sister-in-laws Barbara Hanley and Brenda Waterbury, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of the Quaker Tennis Club until almost 90 years of age, and was an inspiration to the Ladies League. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and travelling with her husband and family.
She will be remembered for her quiet elegance and fashion sense; and most of all for her love and pride of her family.
At the request of the family, a private family service has taken place at Ashburnham Funeral Home on August 15th, 2025.
