WINKLER, Margaret Doris (nee-Mueller) Peacefully, at her home with her family at her side on Monday, October 5, 2020 in her 81st year. Margaret, beloved wife of the late Ernst Winkler. Loving mother of Christine Spencer (husband John), Norman (Heather Scott), and Robert (wife Andrea). Loving Oma of Kylie Anderson, Eric Spencer, Charlotte Winkler, Emily Winkler, Heidi Anderson, Samantha Spencer and Willson Scott. Predeceased by her parents Ernst Mueller and Luise Mueller (nee-Schrofel). She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, neighbors and friends, in Canada, Germany and Austria. Mom was a loving, talented, hard-working, kind and self-less woman. She had a beautiful and comforting soul and always made everyone around her feel loved, special and valued. She had boundless energy and was always busy trying new recipes, cooking and baking for family and friends, sewing or knitting something new and helping out whenever, wherever and whomever she could. She was an amazing person. She was an amazing Mom and Oma. She was and will always be our guiding light and Hero. Mom came to Canada from Aussig Germany (now part of Czechoslovakia) at the age of 10 and lived and worked in Toronto where she met Ernst, the “love of her life”. They married in 1961 and had three children. Margaret and Ernst built a cottage (home) in The Glen on Pigeon Lake in the 1970’s and then moved there permanently in 1981. The Glen was Mom and Dad’s “Happy Place”. They loved living on the lake and spending time with their many great friends and neighbours over the past 38 years. The Tea Ladies were also a very special part of Mom’s life, as were the many close friends and neighbours that always made sure that Mom was doing well on her own after Dad passed away in 2007. Cody, the family dog, was also with Mom during the time after Dad’s passing, and was a wonderful companion and friend for her while she lived on her own at the lake. There are no words to describe our tremendous loss as a family and community and she will be missed every day. We have great comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and with her “true love”, Ernst our Pappa. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charity would be appreciated by the family. Visitation will be held at the COMSTOCK-KAYE LIFE CELEBRATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 12 - 4 pm. I met Marg after purhcasing my cottage next door to her.
Marg came over right away, bringing me a water test kit and a garbage collection guide for garbage pick up.
After dropping these items off, she asked me to stop in for a coffee - the friendship started immediately - Marg had me over several times, serving great coffee and home made baked goods made by her.
Sometimes she would serve something she bought from the store - when she did, she would say, sorry, I bought this because I dont always have time to bake - next time you visit, I will have something made....
I would laugh and say, Marg, anything is good!
I will miss my visits with Marg - she was a very kind person who always had a comforting way with a very positive attitude.
She loved her family and would often share stories about what they were doing.
Thank-you for the great visits Marg - My familly and I will miss you.
Love Brad and family

Dear Christine, Norm, Rob and families;

We are so sorry for your loss. Marg was a warm, wise, and funny person, who we considered a member of our extended family. She was "Oma" to our own children, sharing the joys of birthdays, holidays (like the annual Christmas Eve get-together!) and other milestones for almost 18 years. Marg also welcomed us into her home for many cottage getaways, and we have fond memories of time spent with a gaggle of kids from our family and yours on Pigeon Lake.

We miss her and can only imagine how much you do.

Please accept our deepest condolences,
Sandra and Craig (and Owen and Maya)

To Marg's Family
Jack and I lived next door to the Winklers 20 years ago. We shared many cups of coffee, what good neighbours. Jack died 20 years ago and I moved back to my home town of Exeter. Marg and Ernie gave me a small clock in his memory. I think of them when it is time to change the batteries and I read the little verse she wrote on the back of the clock.
My sympathy to all the family.

Marg was our next door neighbour. She was not only a friend but confidant. She never forgot a birthday. When we came to the Glen 28 years ago, we were welcomed by Marg and Ernie and their family(Norm first). What a wonderful family she has. That welcoming feeling never changed in all these years. She laughed with us and cried with us. We treasured the times we went over for her famous desserts and coffee and shared many stories and memories. In a lifetime you can count your true friends on one hand if you are lucky: Marg and Ernie were that to us. Many memories, many laughs. Will we miss Marg? Very much; she can never be replaced. I have memories of Margaret (Oma) that span well over 40 years now. In fact, when she began to be called Oma, it took me a little while to get used to it because to me Oma had always been Margaret's own Mom, who I also remember very well. Margaret most definitely brought a ray of sunshine to everyone she knew. I will always remember her beautifully written cards. She was a woman of great intelligence, empathy, and elegance. My family extends its profound sympathy. - Dory, Paulina, & Danny.

Norm, Rob, Christine & Family
Our heartfelt condolences to you & your families. Margaret`s warm smile & kind spirit will never be forgotten. I met her only a few years ago when she placed a welcome to the neighborhood card in my mailbox. I knew instantly we would be friends. She was like an angel sent down from heaven. She taught me to slow down and appreciate everyday we have on this earth. I am truly blessed to have known her. She is now at peace amongst many angels & loved ones. Our thoughts & prayers are with you at this time.
