Mary Elvira Lessard

Passed away peacefully at Springdale Country Manor, surrounded by family on April 7th, 2022 in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the Late Bernard Lessard. Loving mother of Joan McMillan (Peter), Judy Cleary (Pete deceased), Marlene Bowman (Earl), Jacqueline and the late Bernie Lessard (survived by Cathy). Cherished Grandma of Mark McMillan, Tracy Macklin (Scott), Shawna Cleary-Goudy (Jay), Deanna Cleary, Christina Essert (Andrew), Michael Cleary, Nikki Brooking (Derek), Natalie Lessard (Kory), Nina Memmo, Sierra Wallace (Kelvin), Braiden Post (Kaylee), the late Lori McMillan and Joseph Lessard. Great Grandma of 17 and great great Grandma to five. Much loved sister of Ida, Catherine and Margaret. Predeceased by her siblings, Bob, Floyd, Harold, Don, Ralph, Neil, Alec, Eva, Doris and Norma. Mary was the oldest daughter born to Randolph and Clara McLuckie. She grew up on a farm in small town Flinton, Ontario. When she was 17 she moved to the city of Peterborough, Ontario where she reconnected with Bernard Lessard when he returned from the war. They married on July 7th, 1947 and went on to have five children. Mary was a kind hearted and loving person, she adored being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. You never felt like a stranger when you visited her house, she always made sure you felt welcome, were happy, and well fed. Mary loved to spend hours in her garden and enjoyed canning her preserves. She liked to play card games and could play a mean hand of euchre. Mary suffered from dementia for the last several years and her strong faith never diminished.

Visitation will be held 2:00-4:00 pm Monday, April 11th, 2022 at the Comstock-Kaye Life

Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 1059 Flinton Rd, Flinton.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Flinton, Ontario would be welcome.
