Passed away peacefully, with family nearby, on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Springdale Country Manor, in his 92nd year. Beloved husband for over 67 years to Jean Greatrex (nee Forbes). Loving father of Leslie Thomson (Iain), Christine Mitchell (William), and Murray Forbes Greatrex (Teresa Giuliani). Proud grandfather of Colin Thomson, Scott Thomson, Allison Mitchell (Greg Lansdell), Jennifer Mitchell, Porter Greatrex; and great-grandfather of Ruby Lansdell and Marlowe Lansdell. Dear brother of Valerie Davis, the late Warren “Buddy” Greatrex and the late Wilfred Greatrex. After graduating from McGill University in 1948, Murray spent his career as a Physical Education teacher at Upper Canada College Prep School in Toronto. Murray loved all sports, particularly football, hockey and cricket. Special thank you to the staff at Springdale Country Manor for their kindness and care.
